• Top 10 Must Have Trendy Fashion Items for Fall/Winter 2014

As we all change our wardrobes over in preparation for the fall/winter months, I am going to give you my Top 10 Fashion Must Haves!

Let's just get right into it!

1. Boyfriend/ Menswear Inspired Coats

Menswear inspired clothing is at the top of the trend list this fall season. Menswear inspired coats are everywhere!!! Paired with a plaid scarf, they can take your most simple look up a few notches. Stores such as Forever 21 and H&M have tons at decent prices for those of use looking for fashion on a budget!!! Check them out and get you one!

2. Leather/Faux Leather Jacket

Creating the right wardrobe is all about having classic and timeless pieces. The Leather/Faux Leather Jacket is a fall and winter staple in anyone's closet! A basic white tee, boyfriend jeans, and booties can be transformed by just draping a leather jacket over your shoulders. Don't be afraid of colors and adornments. Quilted leather is definitely in!!! Maybe instead of opting for the basic jacket, snag yourself on with some quilted accents. You won't be disappointed.

3. Plaid ANYTHING!

Plaid is the "IT" pattern of this fall/winter season! You can find just about anything you could imagine on store shelves in some plaid variation. If you're bold (like me), maybe a plaid suit would make your heart flutter. If you are a little more conservative, a plaid scarf or a plaid flannel might be more your speed. Either way, get yourself something before I buy everything!!!

4. Over the knee boots/Thigh High Boots

Gone are the days when thigh high boots were only for Spice Girl members, although they can keep the 6in platform soles. Over the knee boots are here this season, and they are here with a vengeance! Chunky heeled, flat, leather, or suede they are the perfect addition to a woman's shoe collection. Yes, even you shorter ladies (including myself)!!! Snag yourself a pair too! You can slip them on with a shift dress, a sweater and leggings, or even with a flirty skater skirt for a night out look. You can't go wrong with them in your wardrobe!

5. Gloves

As we grow and mature, days of the two for $3 gloves from Target are fading away. As we upgrade our closets for the upcoming winter, our accessories should follow suit! Opt for a more sleek driving glove, or a feisty spiked leather one like those pictured below! With more tailored coats and jackets we need gloves that compliment and not distract. Aldo and Urban Outfitters are great places to start!

6. Stylish Sweaters

Kind of speaks for itself! As temps drop, the basic v-neck tees and chiffon blouses won't cut it anymore. Grab yourself a few basic sweaters that can be worn a few different ways. Side slits, cowl necks, and zippers are in this fall on the sweater front. So, pick up a few before the cold weather sets in!

7. Joggers

Joggers have come back around for another fall/winter season. More specifically, sportswear inspired joggers are the hot item! Despite the casual nature of the coveted skinny jean rival, joggers can be easily dressed up. Paired with a lightweight sweater, fedora and some booties you have a feminine day time look. Swap out the sweater for a crop top and blazer and the shoes for some single soled sandal for a night out with your girls. I've seen them in leather, plaid, denim, and the really hot pattern for joggers is heather grey. I snagged mine last fall from H&M, but I am sure that you will be able to find them anywhere.

8. Hats

Hats have become more and more fashionable as the years have gone on. Simple beanies, fedoras, and wide brim "floppy" hats are great fall and winter accessories. They can be worn to keep your head warm, or to hide a bad hair day. If you don't have a couple in your collection I suggest grabbing a few. Forever 21 has a pretty decent hat selection and the cheapest beanie's I've seen!

9. Leather Pants

Leather items in general are on trend this fall and winter but if you don't get anything else grab yourself a pair of leather or faux leather trousers! The can be worn so many different ways. The list is endless! These have been hot for the past few seasons so I am sure most of us have a pair or two in our closet but if not, get yourself a pair now!

10. Chambray Top/Denim Shirts

Another top trend for this season, is the denim on denim look! Chambray tops have been floating around in stores for the years, and there is nothing wrong with having a couple in rotation. Simple, timeless, and classic. This purchase is one that you don't have to worry about going out of style! If you don't want to shell out the big bucks on one, try ThredUp and find one at a reasonable price. It is an online consignment/thrift store with some of today's hottest trends. Check out the link below if you!!!
